The Joyce Youings Memorial Lecture in Early Modern History 2013 - What’s the Future of Tudor History? by Dr John Guy - is to be held at Exeter University on the evening of 7th May.

The lecture, by an author who has lectured extensively on Early Modern British History and Renaissance Political Thought in both Britain and the USA, commmorates Emeritus Professor Joyce Youings - the first woman professor at Exeter University and widely regarded as Devon's leading historian - who died in 2011.

John Guy read History under the supervision of Professor Sir Geoffrey Elton, the pre-eminent Tudor scholar of the late-twentieth century. He has lectured extensively on Early Modern British History and Renaissance Political Thought in both Britain and the United States. He has published 16 books and numerous academic articles. His book My Heart is My Own: the life of Mary Queen of Scots won the 2004 Whitbread Biography Award.
