The Army's national charity ABF The Soldiers' Charity is hosting events on Sunday 7th September, based on Clive Aslet's book War Memorial, which tells of the people of Lydford commemorated by its war memorial. An afternoon service and wreath-laying at Lydford will be followed by an evening fundraising reception and talk by the author, at the University of Exeter.

On the afternoon of Sunday 7 Sep, there will be a simple memorial service and wreath laying in Lydford.

ABF The Soldiers' Charity (South West) is trying to locate surviving family members of those remembered on the Memorial. If you can help, contact Robert Jordan - rjordan@soldierscharity.org. (The Devon Heritage website has a listing - Lydford's War Memorial - of the names and known details of the men, and one woman, commemorated).

This will be followed by a fundraising reception at the the Alumni Auditorium at the University of Exeter, with a book signing and talk by Clive Aslet - War Memorial: the story of a Devon village's sacrifice - based on the World War One chapters of his book.
