HMS Exeter exhibition, 14-15 Dec

An HMS Exeter exhibition - to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the River Plate, will be on display at Exeter Guildhall - admission free - on Sunday 14th December (12-4pm) and Monday 15th December (10.30am-4.30pm).

One of the five Royal Navy ships named HMS Exeter after the city of Exeter, the HMS Exeter (68) was a York-class heavy cruiser launched in 1929. She fought against the German pocket battleship Graf Spee at the 1939 Battle of the River Plate. She was eventually sunk during the Second Battle of the Java Sea in 1942.
