The Exmouth Historical & Archaeological Society has sent us news of its 2015-16 programme, which begins with a talk on March 2nd: The history of Exeter cathedral, part 2, 1326-? - speaker: John Allan, cathedral archaeologist.



EXMOUTH HISTORICAL & ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY

the Devon History Society, and  the Friends of Devon's Archives)

PROGRAMME for 2015/16
All meetings start at 7.30 p.m.

Meetings are held at Glenorchy Church Hall, Exeter Road.

March 2 - The history of Exeter cathedral, part 2, 1326-?
Speaker: John Allan, cathedral archaeologist      
                   
April 13 - Cess pits, cemeteries and sewers – on being an archaeologist
Speaker:  Dr. Peter Marsden, formerly of the Museum of London

May 11 - I. K. Brunel - engineer
Speaker: Brian Portch,  volunteer speaker for the S.S. Great Britain Trust

June 1 - How Wellington won Waterloo
Speaker: Prof. Jeremy Black, author of “The Battle of Waterloo”

June 10 (Wed) - Annual Full Day Outing to Tuckers Maltings and Newton Abbot area
led by Tony Reader

July 15 (Wed) - Evening outing to Exeter, In the footsteps of the Roman army
led by Dr. John Salvatore, archaeologist

Speaker: Dr. Sue Andrew, historian

October 5 - The history of the Exmouth lifeboats
Speaker: Alan Salsbury, author of A history of the Exmouth lifeboats

November 2 - The Boys
Speaker: John Lowe, local historian

January 4 - The bare bones of history
Speaker: Charlotte Coles, osteoarchaeologist

February 1 - AGM followed by presentations by members of the Society

Visitors are welcome at all evening meetings, at a cost of £2 per meeting.
